Connie’s Story
By Sophia
Once upon a time, there was a cute little German girl with the name Conni. She lived in Berlin, Germany, and loved everything about the city. Well, almost everything. You see, she was a crazy animal lover, and her favorite animal was chickens. She had always wanted one, but her family’s small apartment didn’t allow animals. This made her very sad and she cried and cried about it every night. Her parents hated for their precious daughter to be sad, but there wasn’t anything that they could do.
One day, Conni’s father, Hans, came home from work whistling; he was obviously happy. At dinner that night, he announced that he got a very good job offer at a company in a small town. The town was neatly tucked away in a big chunk of fields called the Eifel. Their house would come with a big garden, so Conni could finally get pet chickens.
Conni’s parents thought that she would be ecstatic about the move, but they were horribly mistaken. Instead, she was heartbroken. She cried even more than she did about wanting chickens. She cried for three days without stopping, and was unable to go to school because of this. Her parents had to put an end to this crisis.
“Why don’t you want to move, honey? You will get pet chickens. You can name them whatever you want.” Soothed her mother Heidi.
“But you don’t understand, Mama. I don’t want to go away from the city. I love it here; all of our friends and family live here. I can’t and won’t leave.” Conni replied.
Sadly, Conni had no choice but to move. She became very depressed and absolutely hated everything about her new town. The kids at school teased her, she didn’t have any friends to play in the garden with, and it was way too quiet.
Everything changed for the better on the day she got five pet chickens. She was very happy and named them: Susie, Bruno, Lu Lu, Marie and Wallie. Connie took very good care of them and they loved her back. Suddenly, things started looking up for Conni. She became popular at school because all of the kids loved her chickens, and soon she had tons of new friends. Within a few months, Conni overcame her depression and her parents were overjoyed.
When Conni grew up, she became a veterinarian who specialized in the chicken area. She cured lots of common chicken diseases and became famous throughout Europe. And Conni realized that if she hadn’t moved, she would not have become so successful.
THE END!!!!!
